I'm trying to find ways enjoy motorcycling during the long, cold months of an Alaska winter. Does anyone have a good list of motorcycle films to watch?

I've seen Long Way Round and Long Way Down with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman ( Sure, we can't all have a support crew and never-ending funds, but their overall experience is fun to watch. In fact, I really got sucked in. So did my girlfriend, and she doesn't even ride... yet! (Maybe she just has a thing for Ewan.)

I've also seen Mondo Enduro ( with what I can only describe as a "zany" group of riders on Suzuki DR's. I have to admit, it turned out better than I thought. Mondo Enduro follows up with Terra Circa with some of the same riders.

Anyone have other film recommendations? Any leads on a place to download?

The Motorcycle Diaries? Hope you don't mind subtitles! It's in Spanish.
There and back again.

Oh, a friend recommended that to me years ago. I loved it. I have a copy and watched it a couple times. Subtitles? What subtitles?

So I was originally thinking more on the lines of documentaries, but to be honest, I'll probably get more viewing pleasure with dramas and fictional movies included. The Motorcycle Diaries is actually based on a true story, so you were close!

Let's include ALL moto films in this topic, not only documentaries. That will help me get through the winter. One film a week would be awesome.

I did a search and came up with this movie from 1971, On Any Sunday. It's basically a documentary regarding motorcycling in general, but mainly focused on the racing scene at the time.

It features Malcolm Smith leaving everyone in the dust, Mert Lawmill who ended up with a bad season of breakdowns and lost his #1 title, and even Steve McQueen tearing up the local tracks and going toe-to-toe with his fans. He's actually a pretty tough competitor. Anyway, the music is goofy but the overall info and footage is cool. Here's more info.

Let's start a book and film review board. I found a list of motorcycle movies on Wikipedia (List of Biker Films on Wikipedia). Started downloading and watching some. Going to take me all winter! Some are so terrible they're not even worth mentioning OR watching. That's what got me thinking about a review board.

Couple other links to lists of films:

DONE! This topic has been moved to that board. People can still mention movies they like here. If anyone wants to write a review they can just post a new topic for it under the Film & Book Reviews board. I have no doubt you'll be the first.
